Last weekend on Friday night Alayna had her first friend spend the night with us. It was such a fun night! Arden and Alayna are such good buddies and they are both about as goofy as it gets. Together they are a hoot!
While we waited for Dad to get home the kids played outside. Alayna is up in the ship and she's sending down the lifeboat for Arden. Luckily they didn't actually try to USE the lifeboat.
Once Layne got home and the fire was going Layne and the kids set up the tent. The kids really were helpful - mostly.

The kids of course loved playing in the tent. We didn't put the sleeping bags in yet so they had plenty of room to run around.

Arden is so sweet with Ada. Ada loved to play around in the tent with the big kids. She's such a tough girl!
Once the fire was nice and toasty and we had nice embers we roasted hot dogs. I love hot dogs over the fire - they are so yummy AND there's no dishes!
The girls really enjoyed their hot dogs and looking for stars in the sky.
After dinner and once the kids were in their jammies we set up sleeping bags and left the girls in the tent with a walkie-talkie. They loved calling in and saying goofy things to us. It was so much fun. Layne got the walkie-talkies a while ago as a reward and they made the night so much more fun. Eventually the girls called in and said they were ready for me to come out so they could go to sleep. It happened earlier than I thought it would so I had to hurry and get in my jammies. It was so wonderful to lay there and listen to them be silly and then fall off to sleep. I felt like my heart was bubbling over with joy. In the morning I woke up first and just laid there because I didn't want to wake them up. Jacob woke up and came straight out to the tent instead of heading to the "Mommy-Daddy bed" and woke up the girls. We laid in the tent for a while still being goofy. All evening the girls had been making these weird goose noises - they didn't exactly sound like geese but that was what they were going for. Just after we all woke up some geese flew overhead. They honked and we all looked at each other and cracked up laughing. It was such a wonderful time. We had cinnamon rolls for breakfast then headed off to the girls soccer game.
