Ada at 8 Months

Is anyone else seriously alarmed that 8 months have gone by so quickly?  It seems that Ada just joined our family days ago and yet she is two-thirds of the way to her first birthday.  Yikes.  The last two weeks or so have been full of developments.  As I look at Ada I realize she is rapidly approaching the toddler phase - and I have a feeling that once she gets going it's going to be full speed ahead! 

Stats:

Weight: 19 lbs (63%)
~Two pounds in one month! Wowzers!~
No checkup so no height/noggin.

Things She's Doing:

~Crawling!  She has been doing the army crawl for a couple of weeks but in the last two days she's really started moving along with her belly up off the floor.  We were thinking she might skip crawling but I guess she decided it was a worthwhile endeavor.

~Today she finally figured out how to get into a sitting position from laying down.  This is such a big accomplishment!  One of my favorites!

~Feeding herself finger foods. 

~Eating absolutely anything we will let her have. 

~Pulling up on our hands.

~Trying so hard to pull up on furniture. 

~Becoming very dexterous - she is able to pick up and play with toys. 

~Moving around a lot in her sleep - so long swaddle! She's starting to talk and laugh in her sleep too.  It cracks me up.

~Teething!  She finally has one little tooth that has broken through.

~Talking!  She is making lots of different noises and it's fun to hear her try things out. I'm sure we'll hear a few real words over the next few months.

Things She Loves:

~Her siblings!  I am beginning to think they will always be at the top of this list.  She just lights up when she sees them.

~Floor time - she is so happy to scoot around and explore. 

~Any toy that makes noise - even if it's a little crinkle.  Actually, any toy at all will do in a pinch.

~Touching - it's all about touch right now!
~Putting things in her mouth.  Of course. 

Things to Remember:

~She had surgery this month to place PE tubes.  With 7 infections in a 5 month span it was clear that it needed to be done.  She did a great job and was just so wonderful.  I was worried she would be so upset about not being able to eat before the surgery but she was great.  She woke up crying but after a bottle she was happy as a clam and completely unfazed by the surgery.  In fact, that was the day she really started to work on crawling. 

~We're still not sure what color her hair will be.  It's the same color that Alayna's was as a baby but Alayna's had started to lighten up by this point.  It is staring to come in thicker and it's looking darker than any of the other kids at this point.

~Her smile just melts my heart.  She is such a bright, sunny girl and I love her so much.  What a treasure!
