One More for the Road

Before we knew it our week was over and we were on our way home.  I made a little workbook for the kids that I will share later.  I also took ingredients for a couple of recipes.  We were supposed to have quite a bit of rain so I thought it would be fun to cook a couple of pioneer recipes.  Luckily the forecast was wrong and we didn't have any rain at all!  That meant that the ingredients came home and we did our cooking for Family Night on Monday after talking about what we had learned and the fun we had.  We made Hard Tack which was actually pretty good if it was rolled very thin, baked very well and eaten right away.  I was delicious with jam but we made the kids try it without so they could see how it (usually) was for the pioneers.

Rolling the Dough

Golden Brown

Yummy!

AWESOME!

What fun! I'm sad that I've never been to Navoo since they've built it up. When I was there (I was maybe 8) there was barely a visitor's center.
